Earlier this month, our first-grade 🐬Dolphins🐬 took a trip down to the First Americans Museum! Students and chaperones got to explore the 🔎FAMily Discovery Center🔍 and participated in the 🙋Native Knowledge Game Show🙋‍♀️ by competing in teams in a series of fun and engaging games all centered on Indigenous knowledge, customs, and cultures! If you're looking for a fun, educational spot to check out this summer to beat the heat, we highly recommend a trip to 💜FAM💜!

What do Alexander Hamilton 📜, Amelia Earhart👩‍✈️, Michael Jordan🏀, and Sally Ride👩‍🚀 have in common? ...they're all 🐬Angie Debo Dolphins🐬?! Well, they were at our 💜Fourth-Grade Wax Museum💜 before Spring Break! Our burgeoning 🧐researchers🧐did a great job curating a list of facts about each of their historical figures and presenting them to mini audiences, practicing their orating skills!

This week’s showcase was performed by Miss Abi’s first graders - a little repeat-after-me song to get us all connected first thing in the morning! Class awards went to: 🥇The Recess MVP - Mrs. Yarbrough 🥄The Golden Spoon - Mrs. Krist 🧹The Dapper Dustpan - Mrs. Salafia ✅Attendance - Mrs. Gomez …And Jamarrion, Jermaine, Kaya, Gavin, Dim, Lamar, Noah all received ✉️postcards✉️ from adults in the building for being exemplary Dolphins! We’ve made it to Spring Break, Dolphins! Enjoy a week off with longer days and warmer weather on the horizon!

New month, new Fridays, new 🐬‘phins🐬 to celebrate! Last week’s showcase was performed by Mrs. Bell-Kennedy’s first-graders - a little song about how patterns are all around us, which reinforced first-grade math standards! We celebrated some super sweet Dolphins in our building during our ✨Flexibility Awards✨! Faculty and staff even recognized Mrs. Martin (3rd Grade) for her pliability! Last but not least, ❤️Mrs. Salafia❤️ was recognized as our Teacher of the Week and received a favorite treat! Just a few more sleeps until Spring Break!

Faculty and staff even recognized Mrs. Hobson and Mrs. Braig! Last but not least, ❤️Mr. Ceynar, Mrs. Keck, Mrs. Hobson, Mrs. Hale, and Miss Hendrix❤️ were recognized as our Teacher of the Week’s, and each received a favorite treat! Long live the childhood ❄️snow day❄️!

Last Friday, our littlest Dolphins celebrated the end of their 🐻bear unit🐻 with Hibernation Day! Students worked on categorizing their 🧸teddy bears🧸 by size, color, and species!Classes went on a "bear hunt". And of course, everyone got practice hibernating (and reading) in makeshift dens! 💡Fun Fact💡: Bears don't actually hibernate; instead, they enter a state of torpor, which is a less intense version of hibernation distinguished by duration!

And Gage was celebrated for his generosity! Last but not least, ❤️Mrs. Lang❤️ was recognized as our Teacher of the Week and got one of her favorite little peanut butter and chocolate treats! Last but not least, if you smelled something cheesy and toasty wafting through the hallways, it wasn’t the cafeteria but Mrs. Williams and Mr. Goodrich making 🧀grilled cheeses 🧀 for faculty and staff all day! Looks like we have a few familiar faces on the 🎅"Nice List"🎅 this year! With the success of our fall book fair, Ms. Ashcraft was able to play Santa and surprise teachers with a 📚book📚 from each of their wish lists! A huge thank you to everyone that shopped our book fair to support our library!

🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨 We interrupt our regularly scheduled 🐬Friday's 'Phins🐬 program for a special announcement: This morning we were so excited to recognize 💜Mrs. Shelbi Jordan💜 as our Support Employee of the Year! Mrs. Shelbi does all the critical work of managing student absences along with making sure subs are in our building to cover teacher absences...among literally a gajillion other things (She's always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever it's necessary!)!
